(1) Synopsis: A wide ranging discussion of Truth as the common thread embedded in all the world's enduring religions, philosophies, and metaphysical systems; a discussion founded on the premise that the Truth speaks for itself, and needs no defense.
(2) Objectives and Goals of the Group: (a) We will bear witness to the Truth of our Being, as we have each grown to know and love it, to the best of our individual and collective ability"; realizing that we all hold unique points of view and perspectives, that are not necessarily right or wrong (except by Absolute Standards.) (b) We will attempt to work with areas of common ground in order to "embrace and expand" our individual and collective understanding, rather than focusing on "apparent differences." (c) We will dedicate the discriminative capacity of our minds to see how things are the same, instead of its natural emphasis on how than different; and, thus, use our minds constructively, to see how things go together, versus destructively, to see how things come apart. (d) This will be an open discussion founded on the premise that the Truth speaks for itself, needs no defense form "lower quarters," and that particular view points held relative to that Truth, and those who identify with them, are the only thing in need of defense. (e) Discussion will take place in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect for viewpoints positions (held relative to the Truth) that appear contrary to our own present perspective or frame of reference. (f) Our ultimate object will be to recognize the Whole (of which we are all integral parts – waves on one ocean, as it were) and so automatically re-integrate all the "seeming parts" or identification with a relative perspective projects into being, from the top down. (3) In closing, the following illustrative mountain metaphor, which appears as an introduction to Chapter Four of "Out of My Mind and Back to My Senses: The Object of Life Is To Find Out Who I Am Before Time Runs Out," is offered as a further synopsis of the premise upon which this group is founded and will operate: "Truth may be likened to a mountain that offers different views from different sides and elevations. While all views are relatively true, none are absolutely true. Thus the relative merit of any particular view must be judged solely on the basis of how much mountain it is able to embrace. The wider one ranges and the higher one climbs, the broader and more encompassing individual perspectives are likely to become. Higher understanding results from higher and broader perspectives. Higher views necessarily include and transcend lower views. Only one view, however, includes and transcends all others–that of the entire mountain as seen from the summit's all-inclusive perspective." © 1992 RFHay Group Tags
